The secret of Effective Communication

At the entrance of my college when I was parking my car, I heard someone calling desperately “Madam please wait, it’s me here.” I turned back casually realizing the person approaching towards me.  To my surprise, the person was from an entrepreneurship cell whom I had met just once while taking interviews of students. In a rush, he pleaded me to take communication skills session for engineering students for just an hour the same day!! Awkwardness struck me, as in such a situation while I was getting late for my own session waiting in the parking area trying to park my car, I had  to tell him that it will not be possible for me to manage at such a peak hour on such a short notice. And, I did it! I said a sharp no to him. However, he continued saying he would call me later and talk, once I am done taking my first two-hour session.
Eventually, I agreed half-halfheartedly to conduct the session on communication skills which is a vast topic to be covered in an hour. Before reaching the seminar hall I was unsure on what exactly to speak. However the word entrepreneurs clicked my mind and their I started with the session- may it be an entrepreneur, a businessman, serviceman, or for that matter an house wife also, communication is a tool which is highly essential and also the simplest tool for every individual living on this planet; Only if used with awareness. To be precise, Like our body needs healthy food to have an healthy body so is the effective communication essential for effective daily routine in personal as well as professional life.
When the word awareness comes in Picture it has to be our sense organs – the eyes, nose, feel, ears, Tongue. From which for effective communication Eyes (Visual mode), Ears (Auditory mode) and Feel (kinaesthetic mode) are the highly essentials.
Let’s take examples of the advertisements that we regularly watch. Fairness creams advertisements talk about the products efficiency to make the consumer look good so that they can feel confident and can be successful using it. Here, they tap the audience by preparing relevant songs/Jingles (Auditory mode), a fair looking beautiful model uses the product and shows the fairness results (Visual mode) and also her success using it is been efficiently portrait (Kinaesthetic mode). In this case, all the three sensory organs have been efficiently captured by the product advertisement department giving new heights to the sales of the product.
Let’s try and understand another example of ads from mobile phone companies. Some companies market on only the camera feature of the product so the consumers who are majorly interested in taking their beautiful selfies and posting those will buy it first. Again the ad will have a beautiful model taking her selfies and posting it getting pool of likes. Accompanying will be a beautiful song in the background to make the ad catchier. Now, the ad has impressed the consumer visually, kinaesthetically & through auditory mode also.  In this case, the product sales department already knew the consumer they wanted to tap and so they did it with the efficient advertisement!
So by understanding the above examples we can conclude that the industries are tapping the audience considering the sensory organs as the most important tool for marketing. Eventually, with almost all the products and services it’s the costumers sensory organs that is needed to be appealed only then the service or the product is marketed well. (Let us start observing the advertisements with this perception it will be learning with Fun!)
“Effective communication in simple terms is response that you get” If with your communication you wanted the XYZ result and you receive it, Bingo! You have communicated effectively.
So, let us start to observe and understand our sensory organs first to better understand that of others to become successful entrepreneurs. A successful person is one who understands the science of using sensory organs well.

Freedom

A few days back, when my little friend Kalyani and I were out for evening walk, she simply asked me “ Tai how do you define freedom? If someone says I am a free bird what does the person actually mean by that?” I stopped for a moment looked at her and started walking again without uttering a single word. For few minutes, she eagerly waited for my answer and when she felt that I am not bothering to answer her question, she prompted me. I gave her a blank look. Confused! Kalyani tried to understand what was I up to and finally got irritated and confirmed with me “Are you going to answer my question now or not?” I calmly said “no”. Shockingly she asked “why not!? I want to hear the answer right now, please. I am getting impatient, at least tell me a bit about it. Later part even if you explain me tomorrow it’ll be fine with me. While she was getting stubborn I very calmly asked her “why do you need the answer “now”, wait for 1-2 days will explain you thoroughly. She got more impati...

Tough Times Don't Last, But Tough People Do.

Many a times, I am surrounded by so many questions in my mind like, what am I doing with my life? In which direction should I go? whatever is happening, is it right? Will I achieve my goals? Am I on a right path....? . . . .  AND then! there is something with me called as.       HOPE!   A hope to live the present, 100% A hope to move ahead, head strong. A hope to achieve all my dreams, come may what!  A hope to listen to the inner instinct daily.  A hope to wait for the day. 'The day that I have dream for myself'.      A HOPE TO SEE MY BEAUTIFUL WORLD!
